13 people killed, three injured in Londiani-Muhoroni road accident.

PHOTO | COURTESYA devastating accident occurred on Tuesday afternoon along the Londiani-Muhoroni Road in the Pangala area of Kisumu Ndogo, claiming the lives of at least 10 people and leaving three others critically injured.
According to eyewitnesses, the tragedy unfolded when the driver of a trailer heading toward Londiani lost control, causing the vehicle to swerve into the opposite lane and collide head-on with an oncoming matatu bound for Kisumu.
The impact was fatal, with nine passengers, including the matatu driver, dying instantly. Another passenger tragically succumbed to their injuries while receiving medical treatment.
The three survivors, including a child and two adults, suffered serious injuries. Although the driver of the trailer survived the crash, he fled the scene shortly afterward.
"The unknown driver who escaped after the accident, was driving motor vehicle registration number KCG 089F/ZF 6346 Mercedes Benz from Kipsitet General direction at about 1330 hours and on reaching Kisumu Ndogo along Muhoroni- Kipsitet Road 6kms North of the station ,lost control of the vehicle," read a police report.
According to Kapchebwai sub-location Assistant Chief Gregory Kemei, the survivors were rushed to Muhoroni sub-county hospital for treatment.
The victims' remains are currently at St. Vincent Mission Hospital mortuary in Muhoroni, pending identification.
Police have since cleared the accident scene, with the wreckage of the vehicles towed to Kipsitet Police Station for inspection.
A manhunt is currently underway for the trailer driver who fled the scene.
